Michael Turner was my favorite comic book artist. He passed away a couple of years ago. I made this costume in his memory. There's a more in depth entry on it on my regular deviantART account here: [link]
True, I collected Michael Turner comics since Witchblade issue #6. He had a huge impact on my personnal life as well as my drawing abilities. Without him, I can definitely say I wouldn't have as much fun as I do drawing today.
And to compliment you on your very beautiful costume, you truly deserve my saying as how incredibly unique you look. It's more than just the costume that works, it looks like the Supergirl Turner created stepped right out of the pages and became alive.
In my mind, you are one of if not THE best Supergirl cosplayer around. Your pictures show the respect and love you have both for the creator we lost and the character who lives on, remembering us what a big legacy he left us.
Congratulations on such great photos and modeling and to remind us who Turner was: an inspiration to us all.
Thanks a lot. I had two major influences: Campbell (some of the eye expressions and a bit of the bodyline art) and Michael Turner (most of the rest).
As far as collection goes, I recently bought a button just like yours to commemorate Turner's memory and I intend to wear it with great pride.
As far as Supergirl cosplay and modeling goes, you're by far my favourite. Not every cosplayer can have the exact same look in their eyes the way Turner drew them in each panel and you succeeded admirably.
I guess it isn't easy for all of us, Turner fans, to talk about him in the past tense... seems like yesterday I bought my "Witchblade special" back in 1998 and read the pages on making the comic... now only the sweet memory of one of the greatest comic book artists ever.
Keep up the modeling as well. Beyond the sexiness of Turner's updated outfit (I still have to compliment on your costume replica AND yourself as the most perfect Supergirl model I've ever seen), there lies your own heart in making us remember Turner... always.
